Pastor’s Corner:  Vacations

We all need breaks from our regular routines from time to time.  Vacations may help refresh our bodies and spirits.

Even amid His busy ministry schedule, Jesus went off by Himself to meditate and pray.  Our Creator God made the universe in six days, then rested on the seventh, setting an example for us.

We can find ways to include mini-breaks in our daily lives, taking time to smell the roses, to watch the sunrise or sunset, to listen to birds sing.

As we do so, we may become more attuned to experiencing God’s presence in our lives, filling us with His love and transforming us by His grace and power.

Blessings on you and yours this summer!

In Christ,

Pastor Rob

A Thank You

“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”  Mark 16:15

We appreciate the Elder Bob Leek and  Elder Scott Wessley answering the call to preach in the absence of Pastor Rob on June 7th and on June 14th respectively.

Bob’s sermon titled “Love without End”  and Scott’s sermon “Just turn it over to God”  were challenging and uplifting.   We thank you for sharing your  time and talent in this very special way.

Family Camp - July 31 - Aug. 2, 2009

On Friday, we’ll gather from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm followed by dinner, games and evening worship around a campfire with families like yours.

Saturday starts with breakfast, morning watch, parent time and children’s time, horse rides, and activities - and that’s all before lunch! After lunch, the pool

is open and activities like the challenge course, hiking, games, and swimming are options (you can join in or take time for yourself!). After dinner, you’ll enjoy camp activities and a campfire.

Sunday brings us together for one last time to worship.

Deacon’s Diary

Jeanette Chitty had the honor of  being selected Resident of the month of

June 2009, at Villa of St John.

Pastor Rob and his family were on vacation on the East Coast the first

two weeks of June.  We had the pleasure of Elder Bob Leek delivering

his sermon "Love Without End" on June 7. Elder Scott Wessley delivered

his good sermon "Just Turn It Over To God" on June 14.  We wish to thank each of these gentlemen for filling in while Pastor Rob and his family

were able to enjoy their vacation.

Dear Friends:

Thank you for Faith Presbyterian Church’s generous contribution of $607.00 to Heartland Center designated to our Camper Scholarship Fund given through the 2009 Camps for Kids Campaign.

  ·  Camps for Kids will match your gift dollar-for-dollar. Thank you for helping Heartland Center receive a total gift of

$1,214.00.

Your gift helps us continue providing camping and retreat opportunities for many children, youth, and adults.  We appreciate your support of this ministry.

Together we are making a difference in our families, in our churches, and

in our communities.

Sincerely,

Dan Scheneman

Executive Director

Dear Heritage Committee:

Your generous donation of $567.00 from the memorial funds for Sue Jones on May 21, 2009 to REAP is truly appreciated.  Your kindness is something we do not take for granted, because we know there are many other organizations that you could be supporting.  We are grateful that you have chosen to make a contribution to our program.

This support is of great help in our ongoing efforts to provide assistance

to families in need in our community.  Your generous donation will play a crucial role in our ability to do so and or that we say - thanks.

Sincerely,

Maggie Chase

Assistant Director

FROGGs ~  The FROGGs thank Dick and Bette Beutler for their hospitality in hosting our annual summer outing. We had a great turn-out and all enjoyed Dick’s burgers and brats along with everyone’s yummy salads and desserts.

FROGGS will take a break for the remaining summer months and will resume our luncheons in September.

Congratulations Tisa! ~ Tisa Jones, former Alpha Preschool teacher, and her family have purchased their first home! Tisa has left her job at the Raytown Hy-Vee store and will be transferring to a store closer to her new location as soon as a position becomes available. For now she will be busy getting her family settled into their house on Grandview Street in Overland Park, KS.  We wish James, Tisa and their family all the best as they embark on their new adventure.

Thank you Miss Dot and Faith ~

My thanks to Dot Mitchell for her help getting Shelby through her math class, and to Pastor Rob and Faith Church for allowing us to use the church office as a temporary classroom.  Miss Dot and Shelby have become a familiar sight to those who frequent the church office as they spread their lessons out on the big table each week and tackle pre-algebra. Not only has this been a life saver for Shelby, who finished the year with an

89% (!) in math, but it has been a great way for us all to keep in touch with the Mitchells. Miss Dot - please don’t be a stranger just because we have finished the class!
